What Pool Table Moving Costs (Commercial Guide)
A commercial buyer's perspective — the trade-offs and what we'd spec for a busy floor.

- What actually drives the cost
- Disassembly, transport, reassembly
- Why we quote instead of list a price
Moving a commercial pool table is not a two-person furniture job. A slate-bed table is precision equipment — the slate has to come off, the frame has to clear doorways and stairs, and the whole thing has to be re-leveled and re-felted at the destination or it will never play true. What a move costs depends far more on the building than on the table.
What actually drives the cost
The biggest cost levers are access and slate. A ground-floor room with a wide loading door and a short, straight path is the cheap end. Tight stairwells, elevators with awkward turns, long carries and rooftop or basement venues all add labor and risk. Three-piece slate is standard on commercial tables and is handled section by section; one-piece slate on older or budget tables is heavier and more fragile, and some can't be moved without cracking.
Distance matters less than people expect for a local commercial move — the crew, the disassembly, the re-level and the new cloth are the real line items, not the mileage.
Disassembly, transport, reassembly
A proper move is three jobs: break the table down (rails, felt, slate), transport it protected, then rebuild and level it on site. Re-leveling to within a fraction of a degree across the bed is what separates a table that plays from one that drifts. Most commercial moves include fresh cloth because the old felt rarely survives removal in reusable condition.
Why we quote instead of list a price
Every venue is different, so a flat price would either overcharge the easy jobs or lose money on the hard ones. We survey the access, the table and the destination, then itemize the move — crew, freight, slate handling, cloth and leveling — in one written quote. You approve exactly what proceeds.
If you're relocating a table, opening a second location, or inherited a table with a lease, send us the details and photos of both spaces and we'll quote the move properly.
